Beginning Monday . . . a potential NEW menu item will debut. We will announce the new menu item on our Twitter account, @cruiserscafe on Sunday afternoon but you will have to wait until 6 AM on Monday to see what it is here or on our Facebook page. The staff thinks you will like the addition, but you will be the final judge. Let your wait staff know what you think and if we should add it to the menu in the future. It will be the special of the day all week next week!

Snowfall Update #2

We have been watching for snowfall ever since the 29th of October. Watch the video to see the entire explanation, but we want to see if there will snow 29 times. And, flurries don't count. However, it did snow last night and while it didn't last, if was measurable for a while. So, we are counting last night's snow as the 2nd snow of the season. Only 27 more to go.

It's A Girl!!!

Since we have now had a few days to get settled in at home, we can update the Cruiser's Cafe web page. And, we would like to let you know Jana and Joel have had beautiful baby girl on Thursday, September 1 at 1:04 PM. She weighed 7 pounds and was 19 inches long. Her name is Ella Lynn and Joel and Jana have obviously fallen in love with her. You can see some pictures of little Ella here and here.

We will have some fun stuff to celebrate soon, so check back again soon.

Ken Hull

Ken Hull, author of "Going Local, 2 - An Adventurer's Guide to Unique Eats, Cool Pubs and Cozy Cafe's of Central Pennsylvainia", is scheduled to be at the both this Sunday's Cruise In and Tuesday's Bike Nite at Cruiser's Cafe! The Cruise In begins at 4 PM and Bike Nite begins at 5:30 PM. Both will be held rain or shine.

Ken will be selling and signing books during the events. You can buy a book from Ken when he is here or at the Cafe or on the Merchandise page anytime. If you have already bought a book, bring it in for Ken to sign. Cruiser's Cafe is one of the many eateries Ken has visited and reviewed!

A few months ago we were blessed to have Sue Thomas - former SPY and FBI agent come and visit our restaurant. She loved our fresh cut french fries and experienced her first ever Bison burger, which I am guessing she also loved since she ordered one to go for later. Sue was in town to speak at Richfield Mennonite Church about her ministry.

Despite dealing with the challenges of being profoundly deaf and having Multiple Sclerosis, Sue does not miss a beat! She is one of the most joy-filled people I have met over the years. Her sense of humor and love for life is only out-weighed by her joy for the Lord and sharing His love to people all over the world.

Her passion to love people in the name of Christ has led her to begin a new two fold ministry in CT. The first part of the ministry is a retreat center for leaders to come and enjoy time away in silent reflection. The second part of the ministry is what I would like you to consider being a part of as a Cruiser's customer and that is Pennies for Puppies - a fundraising initiative for the ministry called Kennels of Levi.

Kennels of Levi is a ministry to help train service dogs to assist in daily living for people with disabilities. Sue has been blessed over the years to have service dog companions that have assisted her with both her hearing loss and her MS issues. Having a dog that can serve multi-disabilities is hard to come by and that will be one of the training missions of the kennel facilities. The cost for training service dogs is very expensive, but you can you make a difference just by dropping a few pennies or other coins in the can that is located by the register at Cruisers.

Granny Grose's Buses to "Invade" Cruiser's!

We at Cruiser's were delighted last year when a "CaraBus" of VW Buses entered the Cafe's parking lot. At that time, about 32 buses filled spaces around Cruiser's. This May 12 - 15, the group from Granny Grose's Buses will converge at Shady Brook Campground near Beavertown, PA for their 7th Campover. During the weekend, on Saturday (according to the web site) they will again be organizing a carabus trip to the intersection of Routes 104 & 35 for Hershey's Hand Dipped ice cream!

Cruise In & Bike Nite Dates

Cruiser's Cafe is gearing up for another great summer with even MORE activities than in previous years! We want to announce the dates for our Cruise In Car Shows and Bike Nites for this summer.

The first Cruise In Car Show of 2011 will begin at 4 PM on May 15. Along with great "Oldies" music, this year we will have drawings for gift certificates periodically during the Cruise In beginning around 4:30 PM.

The Tuesday following the Cruise In, May 17, Cruiser's will host our first Bike Nite of the year. We are looking forward to having a bunch of bikes and bikers fill the parking lot during the evening beginning at 5:30 PM. Like the car show, we will be giving away gift certificates throughout the evening. And, as long as there is interest, we will again host the "Slow Race" each night.

Whether you bring a car to the Cruise In, a bike to Bike Nite or show up to enjoy either, we know you will love the hand dipped Hershey's Ice Cream and all the food at Cruiser's Cafe.

Cruiser's Supports Operation Christmas Child

Each year millions of shoeboxes become "Christmas" for many children around the world who might not recieve a gift otherwise. And, each year, a group of Teens from Richfield Mennonite Church, along with volunteers from around the country, travel to Charlotte, NC over Thanksgiving break to help in the Operation Christmas Child processing center to process the shoeboxes. This year, Cruiser's Cafe is going to help with this effort. For the next four Tuesdays, Cruiser's will give 20% of the total recipts for the day to the Teens from RMC for their trip to the processing center in Charlotte. And, beginning November 2, Cruiser's will be collecting donations that will be used to send the shoebox gifts to Children around the world.

Coke Discontinues Canisters at Cruiser's Cafe

We have some sad news for everyone . . . Coca Cola has decided that they will not be selling soda out of the premix canisters we have been using ever since Cruiser's opened their doors! The Coke motif is a staple at the Cafe and we are saddened by the thought of not being able to sell this product. We find it unfortunate for our customers who enjoy the Coke products but don't really have much say in the matter. We will be able to have the bottled Coke we sell with our kids meals, but for the time being, we won't be selling fountain soda from Coca Cola. We are considering our options at this time. Thank you for your understanding in this matter and for your continued support.

Cruise In and Bike Night Coming Soon!

It's just about time for The Cruiser's Cafe Cruise In and then two days later, Bike Night! Sunday, August 16 is the next Cruise In beginning at 4 PM. Come out to listen to the music and see all the classic cars during the event. If you have have a "cruiser", bring it on down to Cruiser's Cafe this Sunday, August 16.

Then, Tuesday night, August 18, beginning at 5 PM, Cruiser's Cafe will host another Bike Night. Again, there will be music outside along with the "Slow Race" and prizes throughout the night. Bikers, take the bike for a ride and head over to Cruiser's for great food and a lot of fun during the evening.

Remember to check out some of new items on the new menu at Cruiser's including Battered Cauliflower, the 'Nacho" Mess, Chicken Cheesesteak, and more! As usual, we have 16 flavors of Hershey's Ice Cream along with fresh cut french fries, great hamburgers, salads and more! We look forward to seeing you at the Cruise In and/or Bike nights.

A Few New Menu Items!

Always trying to offer great food at great prices, Cruiser's Cafe has added few new menu options for the fall! Diners can now order Batter Dip't Cauliflower, a Nacho Mess (same as the original Mess but with nachos instead of fries) and a Chicken Cheese steak sub. In addition, you will be able to add apple sauce or coleslaw to a basket and order a premium chicken or a western chicken. The new menu is on the tables now. We think you will enjoy all of the new offerings along with the regular delicious options.

The Cruiser's gang would like to see you at the cafe soon and think you will enjoy your visit and hope you try some of the new menu items.

May Activities at Cruiser's

The First Cruise-In of the year is only two week from today! Get your classics, antiques, muscle cars or whatever you have to Cruiser's Cafe on May 17. This year the Cruise-In begins at a new time - 4 PM and lasts as long as people stay, or until we close at 9:00 PM.

Then Tuesday, May 19, is the second (well, really the first because we got rained out in April) Bike Night of the year. ALL Bikes are welcome to attend as well as those who want to see the bikes. Bike nights begin anytime after 5 PM will music from 6 - 8 PM.

We are trying something new this year beginning Friday, May 22 . . . Live Music! The East Juniata Jazz Band will be playing beginning at 6:30 PM. We are hoping to have live music once a month, usually on the Friday following a Cruise-In.

Pistachio is in the Freezer

Cruiser's is going nuts next month! The poll for the flavor of the month of May is up and, as you can see, it's all about NUTS! The flavors are Maple Walnut, Pistachio, Praline Pecan and Black Walnut. Descriptions will be available soon (we hope). You have until April 26 at 11:59 to vote. But don't forget.

April's flavor of the month, Playdough, has been quite popular. If you haven't been in to taste it, you have about 10 more days to do so.

First Bike Night One Week Away!

Cruiser's Cafe's Bike Nights 2009 begin Tuesday, April 21 at 5 PM. There will be music outside, free give-a-ways every 15 minutes and a lot of good food, fun and conversation. All bikes and bikers are welcome. We look forward to seeing you at this "family friendly" event!

Breakfast for the Jazz Band

Recently Cruiser's Cafe, with help from the Richfield Mennonite Youth staff, served a free breakfast to the East Juniata Jazz Band. It was a typical "who you know" story as the band director, Kevin "Chief" Milliken, knew that we served breakfast every other Friday to the RMYouth. Seeing that his Jazz band was going to a clinic Bloomsburg University, and would be going past Cruiser's on a breakfast Friday, ask if the band could stop. And, with Kevin being the Jr. High Tiger Football coach along with Joel, how could Joel say "no" (And if you know Joel, how could he say "no" anytime?)? April's Flavor of the Month

In a last minute comeback, the winning Flavor of the Month for April will be . . . "Playdough". Actually, Playdough had the early lead but had recently been taken over by Orange Blossom. However, with only an hour or so left, Playdough came back to win with 29 votes!

Look for Playdough on Friday, April 3 in the freezer at Cruiser's. Also come back around April 15th for the new poll for the May Flavor of the Month.

Bike Nights & Cruise-Ins Coming

Today is the first day of Spring and that reminds us at Cruiser's Cafe about warm weather and all the activities that go along with it. Some of those activities include getting the classics and bikes out of the garage and onto the road. As you do, we hope you will travel to our little place once in a while. To encourage you to stop in, we are planning monthly events for car and bike owners alike!

Bike Nights return after a short season last fall and begin the warm weather trend in April. Our first Bike Night will begin on Tuesday, April 21st and our first Cruise In car show will be Sunday, May 17. The rest of the schedule is as follows:

Flavor of the Month Descriptions

Some have asked for the descriptions of the "Flavor of the Month" poll for April. Here they are.

Orange Blossom: Vanilla ice cream swirled with orange sherbet.

Playdough: Bright yellow vanilla ice cream with hot pink and blue sugar cookie gems.

Banana Pudding: Banana ice cream with marshmallow swirls and vanilla wafer cookies.

Birthday Cake: Cake flavored ice cream with a whipped cream spiral and confetti cake pieces.

The Featured Flavor of the Month of February, Road Runner Raspberry, is in the Freezer beginning today, February 6! Aaron brought his two girls to Cruiser's recently and they were gracious enough to pose for a few pictures. We love kids at Cruiser's Cafe. We had a new customer at the Cafe recently. A Blast from the Past! Davy Jones, of the 1960's pop band and television show the Monkees, stopped in to get some ice cream recently. Peg was almost as excited as "Marsha Brady" to have Davy at Cruiser's and was happy to get a picture with the celebrity. Here's hoping Davy doesn't "Monkee" around too long before he comes again.
